Blue Bell

If you are a fan of real ale and genuine old fashioned charm, then the Blue Bell on Fossgate will certainly be up your street. Having remained largely unchanged in over a century, the snug little drinking haunt is both York’s smallest pub and undoubtedly one of its most characterful.

Its two diminutive drinking rooms and corridor boast an original Edwardian decor, and the grade II listed building offers a further host of quirky period features.

Run by a management team committed to preserving the pub’s reputation for good beer and good cheer, they serve no fewer than seven real ales and host a popular annual beer festival. This is no mean feat if you consider the pub’s miniscule square footage!
