Jorvik Viking Centre
Discover Viking York
The Jorvik Viking Centre offers one of the most popular family days
out in York, having already welcomed over 14 million visitors over the past 21
years. Come along to discover exactly what the Vikings looked like, what they wore
and how they lived hundreds of years ago.
Living History
Housing as many as 40,000 ancient Viking objects that were found during
the Coppergate excavations of 1979-81 by the York Archaeological Trust, the
Centre will take you back as far as the 10th Century A.D. Visitors
are able to experience the magic of walking through the reconstruction of
Viking-Age streets, in order to experience fully the atmosphere of the Viking
era.
View three exciting exhibitions within the Centre, see how the
Vikings made use of materials such as wood, leather and cloth, and even enjoy
the chance to meet a real ‘Viking’...
