Betty's

Afternoon tea at Betty’s is something of a Yorkshire institution. Founded in 1936 by Swiss Yorkshireman Frederick Belmont, Betty’s now offers its wonderfully old fashioned service in 6 locations across Yorkshire.

Its central York branch in St. Helen’s Square is perhaps its most elegant tea room to date. Built in the style of art deco cruise liner the Queen Mary its beautiful curved facade, wood panelling and ornate mirrors seamlessly evoke the glamour of the pre-war era.

It’s worth noting that Betty’s is incredibly popular, especially at weekends, so you may have to queue to be seated.
