Cafe Concerto
Cafe Concerto has been one of York’s favourite cafe cum bistros since it first opened in 1993. Behind the elegant facade, it exudes a very European atmosphere with potted plants, eclectic antique wooden furniture and bistro style chequered floor.
Its menu is distinctly European in character too with classic French staples such as croque monsieurs and croissants keeping good company with a wide range of teas, coffees, spirits, wines and liqueurs.
As its name would suggest this cafe has a musical theme – jazz to be exact. The old musical manuscripts which paper the walls create a cosy rustic feel and the smattering of musical instruments around the periphery echoes the soft background music.
During the day they serve an excellent range of snacks and main meals including soups, sandwiches and tortilla wraps. At night the venue turns from a cafe to an informal restaurant and they begin serving a lovely evening menu of staple bistro fare such as pork fillet stuffed with caramelised onion, bacon and rosemary and daily changing frittatas.
